Joor Baruah, the documentary filmmaker grew up in the Brahmaputra plains. His inquisitiveness always made him wonder regarding the life and culture of the unseen and the “beautiful people” of other northeastern states. The outcome of his quest is “Adi: At the Confluence” a documentary on the tribal Adi people of the Himalayan border of India and China.

Baruah was strongly influenced by the life and works of his uncle Dr. Bhupen Hazarika. For Baruah, music was something that was deeply ingrained in the family. His mother, who was an active member of the IPTA movement also influenced him to a considerable extent. In fact, he says that “I inherit my passion for music from her”.
