“Pula Chappal” the Himachal footwear
Pula chappals are handmade grass footwear from Himachal Pradesh (A northern Indian state in the Himalayas, India). These Vibrant chappals are made from grass that has been twisted into rope and then topped with creative colorful cotton upper.
Earlier the people of Himachal would wear/use leather shoes made from cowhide. But being a Land of Gods, this practice was considered inappropriate and so the pula chappals came alive.
These extremely lightweight chappals are worn during religious ceremonies, within temple area and are also used for walking on snow. Contract to their look and weight they are quite comfortable and warm.
I have these chappals since 3 years. Every time I travel to the mountains I adore them, for they are from the Land of Gods.
