Shimla – Queen of hills

I have been to Shimla many times . I have grown up in the lap of the mountains so it was not a new experience for me. It is always  same old mountains, trees and water. But this time I saw it differently. I admired it for it’s beauty. I now know why it is called queen of hills. Shimla is a place which exhibit modernity and an exquisite ancient charm at the same time. The people are rooted to the cultural. I used to think I love mountains because that is where I am from.  It is not just that. It’s how you feel when you enter in that environment, surround yourself with warm, happy go lucky people. The vibe is something else.

This time I visited Viceregel Lodge Shimla  which is now known and Indian Institute of Advanced Studies. The Viceregal Lodge was the summer residence of the Indian Viceroy, who governed the Indian subcontinent between 1888 until 1946. You can go on foot/walk from Mall Road Shimla to this place or take a taxi which is frequently available. I walked all the way to this place and I prefer walking. I think you should do the same . Let your lungs intake plenty of fresh air. The beautiful avenues and picturesque serene environment is worth a million dollars. When the guide takes you to the inside tour of this old heritage building, your eyes will be stunned. As much as it is architectural wonder from outside , inside of this building  is equally magnificent. You will hold your breathe when you’ll see high- very high ceiling and a beautiful landing before you exit the building.

Come visit this place and be stunned and remember prefer walking all the way.
