This year we decided to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday peacefully. The owner of the Sunrise hotel in Pokhara, Dhen, recommended this trip to us, he has thirty years of experience of guiding in Nepal. We had planned to go for a trek and stay the night. It felt like a real exercise as only after reaching half way up did we get a ride to the top of the Dhampus village. There was a traffic prohibition sign for horns, so no noise for a while! Just peaceful all around. The food tasted so good and the view was nothing but stunning! We took evening drinks by the campfire with locals. The atmosphere of this place is relaxing and really gives you a peace of mind. No need to search for anything.
All you need is to be present in the moment.
The ground energy of the mountains was awesome. You can see the massive Annapurna and Machhapuchchhre, fishtail, very beautifully. “Annapurna is a Sanskrit name which literally means “full of food“, but is normally translated as Goddess of the Harvests. The universal and timeless kitchen-goddess. The mother who feeds, without her, there is starvation, a universal fear. This makes Annapurna a universal goddess.” Maybe this is the reason why locally produced food is so delicious and everything comes close by!
Dhampus is the perfect village to visit for a day trip or longer. If you are visiting Pokhara, its just an hour ride and couple of hours of trekking. Gurung cottage is a good place to stay and the owner Krishna Gurung is absolutely welcoming and a kind host. I warmly recommend you to stay over night as the sunset and the sunrise are stunning here. The place is just magical!
