My favorite place

If you were to ask me my favorite place, I’ll tell you about this place. This is a small temple located in the creek a little ways down from the Shiva Cafe, a little ways up from the BhagsuNag temple.

Mcleodganj is love.

I discovered this place exactly 2 years 10 days ago because of a German man named Martin. I was on my way to the hotel when I spotted a silhouette sitting on the parapet of a small temple on the opposite slope. The sun was setting and the last light of the day kissed the place goodbye. I was mesmerized.

I couldn’t go that day but I made it my agenda to find that temple and watch the sunset the next day. I say ‘find’ because I didn’t know the way. So I trekked up the creek with a friend and eventually after about an hour found the place. To my surprise, Martin was there. Turns out Martin comes to this place everyday to watch the sunset if he’s in town. And so do I now.

We talked for a while but most of what we talked about is lost to time. If there is one thing I can recall, and it’s the only thing I can recall from the conversation, is the conclusive definition we came to about a topic and people very close to my heart.

Hippies.

Hippies are people chasing things that they don’t fully comprehend.

Wouldn’t you agree?
