If you ever plan a road trip to Nepal from Almora you will surely pass through this interesting place named Reema, a cluster that falls under Bageshwar District of Uttarakhand.
Reema is certainly a mining area and so the roads are very slippery. The lime stone powder is visible of the roads here. The people are rich and does this place results to migration of people from this place. You will also come across migrants from Nepal who work under the mining zones of this place.
The Nepali children are not enrolled in any schools because of no residential or birth proof. Also that their migration is illegal that keeps them away from education.
These children also involve themselves in the construction and other small work. Improper employment and illiteracy makes this place prone to human trafficking of the Nepali migrants. The teenage girls who travel back in the trucks after finishing their mining work in the evening are reportedly sent to some alien place. These issues are either not inquired about or have been invisible to the responsible eyes.
I am a part of this research plan which is focusing on the impact of mining and migration in this location. Inviting ideas of research and feedback.
( We’ve been going through many post with people sitting on the road and getting themselves clicked. So we thought, why shouldn’t we do the same? So here we are, acting sincerely to make justice to the trend. )
