Sikkim is considered to be one of the most picturesque states of India. Gangtok being the capital of the state is a very lively town buzzing with tourists from all over the country as well as other countries visiting the beautiful state.
We started our journey from Kolkata by train to NJP & then further by a car from NJP to Gangtok. The most exciting part was the visit to North Sikkim which started with Lachen & then moving further to Lachung.
Enroute Lachen from Gangtok
Clouds amid Mountains
Lachen was our stop for night stay as we had to move to Gurudongmar Lake the next day. But en route due to high snowfall we had to stop some distance behind Chopta valley as Indian army didn’t allow us to move further. But the breathtaking view of the snowfall will always remain in our heart. For the rest of the day we leisured around Lachen town, which remains covered under snow for mostly during the winter season.

The next day we started for Lachung . Then we went ahead to visit Yumthang Valley & Zero Point which is the highest motorable road & nearest to China Border. The view of the Yumthang Valley from Zero Point is just mesmerizing.

Also en route we visited monasteries out of which I must mention Rumtek Monastery & Namchi Monastery to be the most beautiful.
Rumtek Monastery
This trip will always remain close to my heart as I experienced snowfall for the first time in life.
