‘Kokborok’- The Tribal Language Usage made mandatory by the Tripura Government

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tripura government has made Kokborok language mandatory to be displayed on signboards, nameplates and other notice boards in the government buildings with also issuing notifications, making it compulsory that tribal name and languages must be displayed on the signboard in all state government, semi-government, autonomous bodies, and educational institutions.

The Union Civil Aviation Ministry has been making flight information announcements at Agartala airport in tribal “Kokborok” language in addition to Hindi, English, and Bengali.

In schools and colleges in Tripura, Kokborok is being taught as one of the language subjects up to degree level and Tripura (Central) University has also introduced a short-term course in Kokborok. Click to read more.
